💬What is a domain?

When signing up, you choose a domain where your instance will be accessible online. It is always a subdomain of fair-wizard.com, such as your-domain.fair-wizard.com. Your institution name or abbreviation is a good idea for the domain, but feel free to choose whatever suits you best. Here are some examples:

  • ACME Corporation → acme.fair-wizard.com
  • Quantum Nexus Research Institute → qnri.fair-wizard.com

You can use only lowercase alphanumeric characters and '-', but it can't start or end with '-'.

If you want to run your instance on your own domain (not as a subdomain of fair-wizard.com), check out our Enterprise Plan.

💬What is the difference between FAIR Wizard and Data Stewardship Wizard?

FAIR Wizard is a complete solution that arises from open-source tool Data Stewardship Wizard. FAIR Wizard offers additional features that organization needs to operate such a software like:

  • Additional authentication methods (SAML, Shibboleth, LDAP, etc.)
  • Admin center (including better user management, audit logs)
  • Reporting (analyze your plans, measure progress, etc.)

💬Can I affect what will be developed?

💬What is the timeline for the release process?

We release new versions monthly. Prior to deploying a new release to production, we first deploy it on a preview instance, which is provided alongside your production instance. This allows you to test new features, modify your knowledge model or document template as necessary, and get ready for the new version. For specific release dates, please refer to our changelog page.

💬Is it possible for me to try out new features before they are released to production?

Yes, we provide a preview instance for every production instance. This allows you to test new features, modify your knowledge model or document template as necessary, and get ready for the new version.

💬Will I receive an alert when a new version is deployed?

Yes, we will send you an email notification 3 days before and right after a new version is deployed to your production and preview instance.

💬How frequently is maintenance scheduled, and is there a guarantee for service availability?

Usually, there are no downtime or service interruptions during maintenance. However, in some cases, we may need to take the service offline for a short period of time. In such cases, we will notify you in advance. According to your plan, we guarantee 95% or 97% service availability.

💬Which regions do you support?

Our main servers are located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). However, if your data needs to be stored in a different region, we can deploy a dedicated instance for you in one of the following regions*:
